Gambas Learning Guides

Book 3: Some more simple GUI applications

This third book of the Gambas learning guides came to existence because Book 2 simply got too long, so I decided to move content planned for Book 2 to a third book.

As with the other books you will start with a theoretical explanation of concepts useful for you as a developer to comprehend. These specific chapters spread over several books, in time will become a useful reference and overview of the discussed topics.

The focus in this book will still be on building GUI applications, starting from a preset of requirements, going into design, coding, testing and finally, distribution. The projects will be kept simple, efficient and functional, introducing new controls, functions and methods of approach, just like in the previous book. Again, some new components will be introduced and demonstrated.

New will be the introduction with streams and applications, demonstrating different sort of streams in Gambas. For this, some first interfacing with command line applications will be introduced and applied.

Further attention will be given to form design, layout, menus and toolbars and more that has to do with the looks of your applications.

Background information for a better comprehension of discussed topics and lots of Gambas code are an obvious part of the Gambas learning guides series.

At the end of this book you should be quite capable of building different kinds of GUI applications and have an even greater insight into many subjects touched upon in Gambas Book 1 and 2.

This book is currently being written.
